The Health and Human Performance (HHP) curriculum is dedicated to the scientific study of human movement (kinesiology) and physical activity as it relates to health, wellness, sport, exercise, and dance.
The HHP program is designed for individuals passionate about promoting physical activity and enhancing human well-being. The program integrates principles from various scientific disciplines to provide students with a holistic and evidence-based approach to health and human performance. Students engage in rigorous coursework including anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, sport skill development, methodology, exercise prescription, and research methods.
Concentrations in the HHP major include:
Beyond theoretical knowledge, our program emphasizes experiential learning and practical application. Students have the opportunity to apply the scientific principles in real-world settings through hands-on projects and laboratory experiences, fieldwork, and internships. Some of the internship settings include schools, YMCAs, youth camps, amateur and professional sport teams, fitness and training centers, and a variety of other sport and exercise organizations.
Graduates of the HHP program emerge with a strong scientific foundation, practical skills, and a deep understanding of the connection between science and human health, well-being, and performance. Whether pursuing careers as coaches, personal trainers, or teachers, our graduates are equipped to positively impact public health and the lives of many individuals.
