The Bachelor of Music degree is offered with concentrations in Music Education (Choral, Instrumental, or Elementary emphasis) and Music Performance.

The Bachelor of Arts degree is offered for students who desire a broad liberal arts education or who wish to combine a major in music with a minor or concentration in other areas of study.

The Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree program is designed to prepare students to teach general music, choral music, or instrumental music in public schools. This degree program is comprehensive and requires professional music education courses as well as a series of techniques courses in the student’s applied major. Successful completion of the program qualifies the student for Music K-12 licensure in the state of North Carolina.

The Bachelor of Music in Music Performance degree program is designed for those students who possess exceptional performing ability and who wish to pursue a career as a performer or performer/teacher at the collegiate level. Entrance into this program is highly selective and dependent upon faculty approval at the end of a student’s freshman year.
