The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences at Mars Hill University provides an interdisciplinary foundation for students pursuing graduate and professional programs in rehabilitation and allied health professions.

Through coursework in biology, health sciences, kinesiology, psychology, and related disciplines, students develop a strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and therapeutic interventions used to care for patients across the lifespan. They also build the knowledge, communication, and problem-solving skills needed to succeed in competitive graduate and professional programs.

A defining feature of the Mars Hill Health Sciences program is its emphasis on graduate school readiness. Observation and clinical hours required by many professional programs are built directly into the program, allowing students to earn academic credit while completing supervised experiences in healthcare settings. Graduates leave with both a bachelor’s degree and a significant graduate school requirement already completed.

The Health Sciences major offers three concentrations:

• Athletic Training
• Occupational Therapy
• Physical Therapy

Students pursuing the Athletic Training or Physical Therapy concentrations benefit from specialized coursework in health sciences and kinesiology emphasizing evidence-based rehabilitation, injury prevention, and strategies to optimize movement, function, and athletic performance. Students in the Occupational Therapy (OT) concentration receive hands-on experience in therapeutic techniques often introduced during the first year of graduate OT programs, giving them greater confidence and a competitive advantage as they begin professional study.
