Fall 2026 Move-In

 We are so excited to have you move-in to campus soon. As you prepare for the big day of your move into your residence hall, we’ve provided some quick access to information you might find helpful.

NOTE: Many continuing residents and some new residents may move in early (e.g., fall sport student athletes and student leaders) and will receive custom move-in information from Residence Life staff via email.

Check-in Location: Campus Center

Once you arrive at 120 Cascade St., park in the lot across the street in front of Pitman Dining Hall.  Cross the road and enter the building to find MHU Check-in! You’ll need to clear check-in before moving into on-campus housing—this includes the below steps, so make sure you’ve completed these items!

Check-in Reminders… Before You Arrive:

• Complete your medical requirements, if you haven’t already.
• Be sure to register your vehicle if you plan to have one on campus.
• Log into your Self-Service account to:
  • Fill out your emergency contacts
  • Confirm your student account is satisfied. If you need to, set up a payment plan and/or discuss payment options with Jordan Schmucker, Student Accounts Manager (jordan_schmucker@mhu.edu or 828-689-1240).
  • Ensure you have completed all required financial aid documents. Have a question about financial aid? Contact your financial aid counselor!

Your Room Assignment:

Not sure or can’t remember where you’ll be moving into? Log into your Res Life Portal to see your real-time housing assignment and roommate’s name (if you have one). Remember: you must check in with MHU staff before moving into your residence hall, so head to the Ponder Atrium in Ferguson first! You’ll receive instructions on moving in once you complete check-in.

Note: because of move-in logistics and operational limitations, we are not able to process any room change requests. Residence Life will send out information about Room Change Day shortly after the first day of classes; please be sure to check your MHU email in early September if you’re interested in changing rooms.

By the Way…

• Fall Break is in October
  • Residence halls will remain open, but Residence Life will email you about any requirements if you choose to stay on campus during this break.
