Master of Education

The MEd program is designed for licensed teachers seeking to expand professional knowledge and skills in curriculum and instruction.

This program has been designed to prepare candidates for the ever-changing landscape of public education. We emphasize development of evidence-based practices in teaching literacy, current standards of learning focused on the MTSS model, and 21st century skills.

National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification

In addition to earning the MEd in elementary education, candidates may choose to work toward the revised National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) certification. NBPTS certification results in a 12% pay increase for North Carolina teachers. The Mars Hill MEd program prepares students to successfully navigate and attain this certification.

In a 500–700 word, well-written statement, the candidate should provide a response that demonstrates professional knowledge of the field of education and discuss the following:

Why you want to enter the Mars Hill University Master of Education program
How the program is related to your career goals
How the program will improve your classroom practice and student learning outcomes

5. Copy of teaching license.

6. Official college transcript(s) from all colleges or universities attended.
