Alpha Chi Honors Program

Alpha Chi recognizes students who have achieved a grade point average which places them in the top ten percent of the junior and senior classes at their respective institutions.

Since 1922, the purpose of Alpha Chi has been to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who achieve such distinction.  N.C. Epsilon Chapter 120 was installed at Mars Hill University in 1971. 

Mu Kappa Lambda

An honor society specifically for Adult Studies, Mu Kappa Lambda is the local chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, a national honor society devoted to the advancement of scholarship and to the recognition of nontraditional and adult students who are continuing their higher education. The Society was established in 1945 and now exists in over 300 institutional chapters throughout the country.

To be eligible for induction into Mu Kappa Lambda, an Adult and Graduate Studies  student must have completed 24 hours of graded coursework, while maintaining a grade point average of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale and a position in the top 10 % of his or her class.

Honors Program

The Honors Program is a unique curricular program, designed in 2009 by faculty members from all three of Mars Hill University’s academic divisions and based on research into best practices in college honors education across the country. The program features a multi-disciplinary approach that complements the university’s interdisciplinary general education core.
