Addressing Concerns and Grievance Procedures

Concerns or complaints concerning the implementation or granting of accommodations should first be directed to the Disability Services Coordinator who will work with the student and the instructors or other essential campus officials and staff to determine a mutually agreeable resolution. The Disability Service Coordinator will initiate a process of resolution within 5 working days of being notified of the concern. The Disability Services Coordinator may also vet concerns with Disability Services Faculty/Staff Committee members to assist in determining a fair and reasonable resolution. The student will be informed and kept appraised of steps and communications that occur to resolve the issue.

Should the student feel that a disability-related dispute continues to not be resolved, the student may report the concern in writing to the Associate Vice President of Student Development who will initiate a response to the student’s concern within ten working days. The student should include the following information

a. The complainant’s name, address and, if possible (although not required), a telephone number.

b. A detailed description of the alleged discriminatory act(s) sufficient to enable university officials to understand the nature of the concern or grievance.
