The Breathing Room is your place on campus to reflect, renew and to learn techniques to reduce stress. We offer three yoga and meditation classes a week to the whole campus community, and provide an open, quiet space for reflection. Join us to learn and practice simple techniques that you can use anywhere. Most classes are small (4-8 people) and are open to all levels from complete beginners to advanced practitioners.

Tuesdays with Phyllis Smith
Meditation: Intro for beginners at 3pm, Sitting from 3:15-3:40pm

Wednesdays with Laura Boggess
Flow Yoga: 4:30-5:30pm

Thursdays with Laura Boggess and Kelly Spencer
Gentle Yoga and Restorative: 12-12:45pm
This class is a FYC event and great for all levels, including beginners

*All classes follow the academic calendar, for example, meditation will not meet the Tuesday of fall break.

HARRELL POOL

Harrell Pool, located adjacent to Chambers Gym, was renovated in 2002.

Pool Hours:
The Pool is open for Students, Faculty, and Staff during the following hours.
Monday & Wednesday – 7pm – 8pm
Tuesday & Thursday – 11am – 12:30pm
Please bring your ID to get in.

TAYLOR FITNESS CENTER

Well are stocked with free weights, workout machines and stationary bikes, Taylor Fitness Center, located in the lower level of Wren Student Union, is available to all community members, students, faculty, and staff. The center is a use at your own risk facility. MHU is not responsible for injuries or accidents.

Community Members

Community membership are available at low monthly membership of $30.00 per month or $150 for six months payable by check, cash or credit/debit.  No family discounts. For more information please contact the Office of Student Development at 828-689-1253.

Community members can visit the Office of Student Development on the third floor of Wren Student Union during normal business hours to complete membership requirements.
