We’re so excited to meet you!
Congratulations on deciding to join our Mars Hill University community! We can’t wait to have you on campus soon. All incoming students living on campus for the first time reside in one of five residence halls: Brown, Gibson, Laurel, Myers, and Turner Halls… also known as “First-Year Hill.” These halls are staffed with Resident Advisors, RAs, who are student leaders specifically trained to support the first-year experience of MHU students. Every residence hall on First-Year Hill includes lounge space for hanging out or studying and a variety of traditional-style resident rooms. Over 75% of first-year rooms are double-occupancy rooms to promote great connection-building among residents. Living on campus also means you’ll have many free amenities, which you can learn more about here.

Selecting Housing for the 2023-24 Academic Year
If you haven’t already, submit your $250 Advance Tuition Payment so that we know to expect you. Then, starting on April 28, 2023, using your MHU account information, log into myMHU to find the Housing Portal. This is where you will apply for, connect with roommate(s) about, and select housing* for the 2023-24 academic year. You’ll receive more communications (including instructions) via email when the time comes to apply. The Housing Portal is also where you can view your housing assignment 24/7 so you always know where you’ll be living. While you’re on campus for Lion Life, our friendly Residence Life staff will be around to help answer any questions you have about applying for housing. If you haven’t already, you can submit your housing application on the spot while you’re at Lion Life—which is a great time to find a roommate, too! Rooms for new students are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, which means that students who have paid the Advance Tuition Payment and completed their housing contracts first, will receive priority times to select housing.
Pricing for the 2023-24 academic year for first-year residence halls is as follows and is billed per semester (50% in fall, 50% in spring):
- Double-Occupancy Room – $12,046
- Single-Occupancy Room – $13,888
Gibson Hall, the only first-year residence hall without air conditioning, will be priced as follows:
- Double-Occupancy Room – $10,228
- Single-Occupancy Room – $11,976
*If you’re planning to be a commuter, the Housing Portal is where you’ll find your commuter application so we can accept (if approved) and process your exemption from on-campus housing. We’ll miss you in the residence halls if you commute, though, so we hope you choose to join us on campus!
