Search Committee Updates

PRESIDENTIAL SEARCH COMMITTEE UPDATE NOVEMBER 21, 2025

Dear Mars Hill Campus Community,

We would like to update you on the work being done through the Presidential Search Team as we begin the search for our next MHU president.

Since our last communication, we have welcomed our search firm, Buffkin/Baker, to campus. While they were on campus, they held several listening sessions. They garnered feedback from various groups representing on-campus constituents to assist in developing the presidential profile that will be included in the published job listening.

The Presidential Continuity and Transition Team (comprised of Board of Trustee members and MHU staff) have met on two occasions since October 31. This team is developing a site where updates will be posted and frequently asked questions concerning the search will be addressed. The page is located on the MHU website. The presidential profile has been launched and our Presidential Search Team has begun accepting applications for the position.

The projected timeline for the presidential search is as follows:

• November 2025 – The presidential profile will be launched, and the application process begins.
• December 2025–March 2026 – Applications will be reviewed, and interviews conducted for selected candidates.
• March 2026 – Selected final candidates will be brought to MHU for a visit and meetings with various groups on campus.
• End of March 2026 – New president selected and announced.

Please note that the timeline could vary slightly as the search process unfolds. As we all know, this is an extremely important search and we want to ensure that it is conducted in a timely but very intentional and productive manner.

Our plan and goal are to keep you updated at least monthly or more frequently if necessary.
