Homecoming Redesigned for 2020

Mars Hill University alumni and friends will experience a redesigned Homecoming weekend this fall in order to provide a safer environment for students, employees, alumni, and visitors in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Both Homecoming and the Bascom Lamar Lunsford Festival will be held as primarily virtual events this October. A schedule of virtual activities that celebrate the spirit of Mars Hill—our people and our place—will be forthcoming.

While in-person reunions, the University Choir concert, and the picnic on Lunsford Commons (the Quad) will not be possible this year, other traditional Homecoming events will take place as planned. These include:

  • The Alumni & Friends Golf Tournament, which benefits MHU student-athletes, remains scheduled for Friday, October 2, at Reems Creek Golf Club in Weaverville.
  • The Homecoming football game vs. Newberry College will occur, Saturday, October 3rd at 1:30 p,m,, in Meares Stadium. Please note that seating for spectators inside the stadium will be limited due to COVID restrictions.
  • Tailgating before the game will be permitted under social distancing guidelines.

Remember to frequently check www.mhu.edu, along with Mars Hill University social media outlets for the most up-to-date Homecoming schedule.
