Students will clear their stops and receive their parking pass (if applicable). Once cleared, students will go to a designated Residence Hall to get their key.
Families and students are invited to attend the ROAR opening session and learn the Mars Hill University Fight Song.
Students will be led by their Lion Leaders to the Day Hall parking lot and prepare for the March Through the Arch.
Faculty/Staff will have a panel on stage and provide families the opportunity to ask last minute questions.
Students will ceremonially march through the Mars Hill College arch onto the Upper Quad where they will meet with their families for the family send-off.
Students, faculty, and staff will participate in an official family send-off on the upper quad.
Lion Leaders will gather their Color Groups and sit together in Pittman Dining Hall for dinner.
Commuter Students will gather in the Fellowship Hall with First Year Mentors for ice breakers and games.
RAs, Lion Leaders, and FYMs will bring students to Chambers Gym for the PLAYFAIR event.
Students will have the opportunity to go through Cosmo’s Closet to gather any necessities.
First Year Mentors will meet with their Prides and talk about Strengths, making sure that everyone has taken their CliftonStrengths Assessment.
Students will participate in their first competition, learn about Traditions at MHU, different activities MHU offers, community activities, and review PAWS events taking place at ROAR Orientation.
Students will learn about and discuss Basic Human Respect and what that looks like at MHU. PAWS CREDIT
First Year Mentors will gather their Prides and go to the MHU Women’s Soccer game as a group.
Join a game of glow in the dark capture the flag, play lawn games, dance, and enjoy the night with a fun neon twist.
First Year Mentors will meet in a specified location with their Prides to walk together to Assembly #2.
Students will learn about MHU tech resources, the MHU app, and hear current MHU student academic testimonials. PAWS CREDIT
FYS Instructors will have the opportunity to meet their students and answer questions.
This assembly will start with a friendly competition on stage. Students will then learn about MHU resource locations and how to take care of our campus. PAWS CREDIT
First Year Mentors will lead their Prides through a number of riddles that will take them around campus as part of the ongoing competitions.
Lion Leaders hand out color gear for each Color Group, talk about strategy, and prep for the Color Wars.
Students will be led to the MHU Meares Stadium football field in their Color Groups for the class photo.
Students can enjoy a true high school rivalry football game between the Madison Patriots and North Buncombe Blackhawks, hosted at MHU in Meares Stadium. A movie will be played in Belk Auditorium where students can bring their pillows, blankets, and popcorn.
Enjoy a taco snack while tie-dying a traditional first-year MHU t-shirt. Lawn games will be set up along with music.
Lion Leaders will debrief with their students and meet with the coordinator.
Short competitions will take place and current scores for each Color Group will be revealed leading up to Color Wars.
Prides will compete in dodgeball games to play for points towards their Color Groups.
Students will learn more about strengths and be led through activities relating to their individual strengths.
Color Groups will meet in a specified location with their Lion Leaders and march to the intramural field, indicating the beginning of Color Wars.
Color Groups will compete in multiple events to gain as many points as possible for their group.
A buffet style dinner will be held outside of Pittman. Students will be able to eat in Ellen Amphitheater while enjoying music.
Students will participate in an MHU Tradition Event hosted by Mars Hill Chaplain Rev. Stephanie McLeskey. PAWS CREDIT
As an MHU Tradition Event, students will receive an MHU hat to be signed by fellow students, faculty, & staff.
Lion Leaders will debrief with their students and meet with the coordinator.
