Mars Hill University Sets Giving Day Fundraising Record

Mars Hill University hit a new high in its fundraising efforts Thursday, bringing in the largest-ever  total of donor contributions for its annual Day4MHU one-day fundraising event. The 2022 Day4MHU totaled $314,308 by Friday morning, and that number is expected to increase as gifts continue to be counted.

Day4MHU began in 2015 as an effort to engage alumni and other supporters to participate financially in the university’s mission. Alumni and friends of the institution are encouraged to wear MHU apparel and post to their social media feeds to participate in the global Day4MHU drive. The yearly effort has seen consistent growth in participation and in dollars raised. Last year’s event raised $262,200, which stood as the previous Day4MHU record.

Most contributions to Day4MHU support the Mars Hill Fund, the university’s central fund for scholarships. The Mars Hill Fund also enables the university to react quickly to evolving needs, unexpected opportunities, and fresh innovations as they arise. From upgrading classroom technology or additional campus security, gifts to the Mars Hill Fund provide funding for educational initiatives that student tuition, alone, doesn’t cover. Donors to Day4MHU also were able to designate their gifts to specific needs or programs, if they preferred to make a more targeted donation.
