Andrew Nicholson serves as the director of student success in the Center for Student Success at Mars Hill University. He holds a B.S. in psychology from Appalachian State University.

Andrew has been with Mars Hill University since 2022, where he started in the admissions office working as the admissions counselor for local students in the Western North Carolina area. From there, he became an assistant director of admissions, managing all campus events for prospective students, the student ambassador program, and functioning as the athletics Liaison between the admissions and athletic departments. In July of 2026, he was promoted to his current position in the Center for Student Success.

Working directly with students to guide them toward success at Mars Hill University—and beyond—is the most rewarding part of his job, and he puts a strong focus on implementing a student-centered approach. He is married to Amanda Nicholson, who works in the Cothran Center for Career Readiness on campus, and together they live in the town of Mars Hill. In his free time, Andrew enjoys playing music, reading, board games, working on cars, exploring the outdoors, travelling, and spending time with his pets.
