Professor James Heinl joins the Business Department with over 20 years of entrepreneurial experience. Mr. Heinl is an active and engaged community member. He is the founder and owner of Three Tall Pines, LLC a real estate investment, development, and management company that has held commercial and residential properties in Texas and North Carolina over the last 15 years. Professor Heinl was one of the founding members and is currently a board member of the Mars Hill Business Association which hosts the “First Fridays” events monthly in downtown Mars Hill. Mr. Heinl is the founder and executive director of Save Ivy River, a nonprofit that focuses on advocating for the responsible and sustainable use of the Ivy River watershed.

James grew up in Greensboro, NC. He has traveled to several countries and plans to continue and explore new places with his family. He is married to wife Keely and they have a son Wiley. They live minutes from Mars Hill and have been loving members of the community since 2017.
