Sue Fair was born in Asheville, NC and was a graduate of West Henderson High School, Florida A & M University and Florida State University, from where she holds a graduate degree in Theatre Education. She also served her country in the Army Reserves for eight years as an Intelligence Officer, specifically prisoner of wars intelligence. Sue has worked professionally at Gardner-Webb University as the Theatre Arts Department Interim Chair, Instructor, Designer and Managing Director, from where she proudly received the faculty of the year award in 2015. Sue has also worked at Flat Rock Playhouse, Tallahassee Community College and Young Actor’s Theatre. Sue has been involved in theatre for 30 years with over 50 performances under her belt, and has been teaching professionally for 20 years. Her true love is theatre education and inspiring people of all ages with the wonders of live theatre.
She has directed many shows including Shrek the Musical, Charley and the Chocolate Factory, The Secret Garden, Seussical The Musical, Wizard of Oz, The Lion Witch and the Wardrobe, and Fiddler on the Roof. She has done scenic and costume design for Into the Woods, Tartuffe, Rumors, Steel Magnolias and many others. Sue has acted in several commercials, training videos, plays and films. Most recently she was an extra on American Animals which is in theaters now. She also wrote two television pilots for Nickelodeon, one of which was filmed and directed by CIS New York director Rob Bailey.
Sue is married to Mike Fair who is the Vice Principal at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy in Forest City, NC. She has a 13 year old daughter that attends 7th grade at her father’s school and a 7 year old that attends 2nd grade at Mills River School in Hendersonville, NC. When she isn’t making theatre, Sue loves spending time traveling and doing anything outdoors along with her family and friends. Sue especially loves to hike!
