Weizenblatt Gallery to Host Retrospective of Asheville Artist

Asheville artist Daniel Nevins reflects on a quarter-century of image making in an exhibition coming to Mars Hill University’s Weizenblatt Gallery. “Fluent: 25 Years of Painting, Drawings, and Album Covers” will run August 23 through September 22, 2017. An artist’s reception will be held Wednesday, August 30, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Weizenblatt Gallery is located in the Moore Fine Arts Building on the university campus in Mars Hill, North Carolina.

“Fluent” features a range of Nevins’s work, from large abstracts to intimate stylized figures to funky album covers. He describes the exhibit as the most comprehensive exhibition to showcase his unique and diverse body of work.

Nevins grew up in Florida and spent time in California before settling in Asheville, where he’s been a mainstay of the Western North Carolina arts community for more than 20 years. He is the recipient of a North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship Grant. Nevins has worked as a painter, an illustrator, and a fine artist. His work has been reproduced in more than 16 countries and has been reviewed in publications as diverse as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Hi-Fructose Magazine.
