Mars Hill University’s Weizenblatt Gallery will exhibit works by Spruce Pine sculptor Remy Hanemann from Monday, February 17, 2020, through Thursday, March 5, 2020. A reception for the artist will be held Wednesday, February 19, from 6-8 pm. Hanemann is a highly experienced and accomplished metal worker. Hanemann is a highly experienced and accomplished metal worker. He grew up in southern Louisiana, surrounded by the oil processing, commercial fishing, and fabrication industries. One of their by-products was scrap: cast-offs from manufacturing, junked machinery, and other items that were no longer of value to their original owners. In his artworks, Hanemann uses these discarded and recycled metal objects. His exhibit runs through March 5.

Join Dr. Heather Hawn and Dr. Alan Theisen in a discussion of Alexander Hamilton and his influence, past and present. Drs. Hawn and Theisen will discuss Hamilton’s debates with Thomas Jefferson, and how those debates helped shaped current conversations about the role of government. Student Presentation of Trip to Womens’ Rights History Museum

Several students, accompanied by Dr. Heather Hawn (political science), visited the Women's Rights History Museum in Seneca Falls, NY and visited the Susan B. Anthony Museum, the Harriet Tubman House and the gravesites of Ms. Tubman, Ms. Anthony, and Mr. Fredrick Douglass who all lived close to each other. The students will discuss their trip, what they learned, and share that with students.
