Four New Members Inducted Into Mars Hill University Honor Society for Adult Students

Mu Kappa Lambda, the Mars Hill University honor society for nontraditional and adult students, inducted two new student members and two honorary members in a ceremony on Monday, May 1, 2023. New student inductees are Margaret Crisp, a psychology major from Weaverville, North Carolina, and Tracey Thornhill, a history major from Weaverville, North Carolina. Honorary inductees are Sarah Burnette, admissions counselor, and Carolyn Kuzell, associate director of admissions, both of whom work closely with students in the Adult and Graduate Studies program.

Mu Kappa Lambda is the Mars Hill University chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, a national honor society devoted to the advancement of scholarship and to the recognition of nontraditional and adult students who are continuing their higher education. The society was established in 1945 and now exists in over 300 institutional chapters throughout the country. Mars Hill’s chapter was formed in the 2002-2003 academic year.

To be eligible for induction into Mu Kappa Lambda, a student in Mars Hill’s Adult and Graduate Studies program must have completed 24 hours of graded coursework, while maintaining a grade point average of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale and a position in the top 10 % of his or her class.
