Lisa WachtmanLisa Wachtman began her career at MHU as the Tutor Coordinator for the TRiO Student Support Services program 1988. Having been a first-generation college student herself, she has a passion for helping college students navigate college successfully. She cites her two favorite days of the academic year as Move-In Day, when she sees the excitement and potential of students starting their journey, and then Graduation Day, when she sees how those students have grown and changed in ways that transform them and their potential impact on their world.

After working 20 years with Student Support Services, Lisa spent two years as the Director of what is now known as the Center for Community Engagement. In this time, she worked with partners on campus and in the community to help provide service opportunities for MHU students. She also worked with the Bonner Scholars program.

In 2010, Lisa stepped back into student success; she is now the Senior Director of Student Success. She oversees the Center for Student Success which houses a wide variety of programs and support for students to go from Move-In Day to Graduation Day successfully.

She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education from Western Carolina University.

In her spare time, Lisa enjoys reading, spending time with her dogs, and being out in nature.
