Mars Hill University Inducts New Alpha Chi Members

Mars Hill University inducted 9 new members into the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Members of the honor society must be juniors, seniors, or graduate students with grade point averages in the top 10 percent of the student body. Mars Hill’s chapter, North Carolina Epsilon Chapter 120, was formed in 1971. In all, Alpha Chi has chapters at more than 300 colleges and universities.

Keynote speaker was Craig Goforth, Ph.D., associate professor of criminal justice and chair of the criminal justice department.

  • Leah Wilson, a senior criminal justice major from Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, president
  • Lia Whitman, a senior mathematics major from Henderson, Nevada, vice president

  • Grace Kanarr, a graduate student in criminal justice from Mars Hill, North Carolina
  • Alyssa Kornegay, a junior visual arts major from New Smyrna Beach, Florida
  • Natalee Powers, a senior chemistry major from Bedford, Virginia
  • Stefan Schmal, a junior health and human performance major from Marion, North Carolina
  • Eli Taylor, a junior biomedical sciences major from Lebanon, Virginia
