School-to-Prison Pipeline

The school-to-prison pipeline is a systemic issue that begins within the school system. Practices such as zero tolerance policies, increased suspensions and expulsions, the presence of school resource officers, the under-representation of students of color in gifted classes, and the over-representation of students of color in special education classes and alternative schools has led to the disproportionate push-out of boys of color.
