Mars Hill University Inducts 21 New Members into National First-Generation Honor Society

New inductees are lined up in two rows, holding their Alpa Alpha Alpha certificates in front of them.Mars Hill University celebrated the achievements of its first-generation college students with the induction of 21 new members into Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha) Honor Society during a special ceremony on March 31, 2025.

The event recognized students who are blazing a trail in their families by pursuing higher education. Of the 21 inductees, 15 attended the ceremony in the Ferguson Health Sciences Center, where they were presented with certificates, pins, and graduation cords.

Alpha Alpha Alpha was founded in 2018 to honor the academic achievements of first-generation students, with the MHU chapter beginning in the 2023–24 academic year. Its logo—a star surrounded by circles—symbolizes the multiple communities these students belong to, from Mars Hill University to the wider world. The star at the center represents each student’s role as a beacon, lighting the way for future generations.
