HVAC Preventative Maintenance Technician

CLASSIFICATION:     Service/Maintenance Personnel

SUPERVISOR:     Position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor

DUTIES:

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks involving but not  limited to repair of air-conditioning systems and  associated air handling, chilled water distribution, and  control mechanisms
  • Maintain refrigeration units and their control systems
  • Analyze boiler heating systems and cooling systems
  • Maintain steam/hot water conversion systems
  • Plan and implement equipment, control upgrades and new installations
  • Advise and train lesser skilled mechanics
  • Supervisor may determine extent of malfunction, to assure that proper work methods are being followed and that work is of acceptable quality may  review the larger, costlier, exceptional, or more complex jobs
  • Will be cross-trained and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Will be “on-call” as scheduled

QUALIFICATIONS:  High school diploma or equivalent with at least three (3) years applicable experience in Preventive Maintenance field or equivalent vocational training. Valid driver’s license. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.  Ability to apply test equipment and procedures to the analysis and repair of refrigeration machines.  Knowledge of control methods and instrumentation as applies to HVAC systems.  Must be willing to work inside and/or outside.
