Asst. Prof. Elizabeth Whiting Pierce completed her Ph.D. in religion, with a focus in Ethics at Emory University. She joined the Religion and Philosophy program faculty in Fall 2017 as a teacher of philosophy, and as the Director of the MHU Center for Ethics. The Center’s mission is to integrate ethics education throughout students’ curricular and co-curricular experiences at Mars Hill. The Center’s programs include the Ethics Across the Campus initiative, Ethics Bowl, and First Year Seminar Ethical Reasoning courses. Pierce’s teaching and research revolve around two concerns: the sustenance of democracy and environmental flourishing.
