Gordon Hinners has been teaching Spanish at Mars Hill University since 1995. He especially enjoys teaching and studying Spanish Phonetics and Medieval Spanish literature. In addition to his teaching duties, he works with international students studying at Mars Hill and with Mars Hill students who study abroad. He enjoys travelling with family both domestically and abroad and has spent time in every continent except Antarctica, visiting over 30 countries and 49 US states. Professor Hinners is also an accomplished traditional musician and dancer, performing Southern Appalachian mountain music and flatfoot dancing. He has won numerous awards for his fretless banjo playing and dancing, been featured on many recordings, radio and television programs, and has performed professionally for over 30 years throughout the US and abroad.
