Kim Colston is originally from Kentucky, but spent most of her life in sunny Florida. She moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina in 2017, to the place her heart has always been. She has been a critical care nurse for most of her 30+ career with other roles including education coordinator, nursing supervisor, acute care dialysis, charge nurse, and adjunct faculty clinical instructor. Although she did a short stint as a travel nurse when she first moved to the area, she felt she was being called to full-time education. She always found herself precepting or ending up teaching in some capacity. She believes learning is a lifelong pursuit and places great emphasis on this with others.
Professor Colston has three beautiful daughters and one granddaughter. Since her children live in other parts of the United States, she is frequently travelling to be with her family. They are by far the most important accomplishment of her life. Professor Colston is active with her church and in the community. She enjoys using her spiritual gifts and talents to serve others. She enjoys being outside hiking, camping, and enjoying everything this area has to offer.
