Jake Alspaugh received his B.A. in Literature from the University of North Carolina Asheville and his M.A. in English, with a focus on Rhetoric and Composition, from the University of Delaware. Before joining Student Support Services of Mars Hill University, he served as Assistant-Director and Interim-Associate Director of the Writing Centers of UD and Coordinator of Tutoring Services at La Salle University. Since first being exposed to peer tutoring as a Writing Center Assistant in graduate school, he has been a staunch believer in the power of peer-to-peer learning experiences across a variety of disciplines. When he isn’t coordinating the Academic Coaches of SSS or teaching English, he can be found playing the MHU disc golf course, hiking local trails with his dog Stella, or working on his burgeoning homestead here in Mars Hill.
