Mars Hill University celebrated the achievements of its first-generation college students with the induction of 26 new members into Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha) Honor Society during a special ceremony in the Floyd Conference Center on April 29, 2026.
Alpha Alpha Alpha, or Tri-Alpha, is for first-generation students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2. First-generation college students are those for whom neither of the student’s parents, nor stepparents, nor legal guardians, completed a bachelor’s degree. Tri-Alpha members receive a blue and grey honor cord to wear at their graduation ceremony.
Alpha Alpha Alpha was founded in 2018 to honor the academic achievements of first-generation students, with the MHU chapter beginning in the 2023–24 academic year. Its logo—a star surrounded by circles—symbolizes the multiple communities these students belong to, from Mars Hill University to the wider world. The star at the center represents each student’s role as a beacon, lighting the way for future generations.
