The campaign, one of the most ambitious in the university’s history, reflects a shared commitment among alumni, donors, and friends to enhance the student experience and strengthen Mars Hill’s future. The newly completed campus center stands as a vibrant hub for student life, connection, and community: an enduring symbol of what can be achieved through collective generosity.

“This moment represents the very best of Mars Hill,” said Greta Byrd, vice president for advancement. “Through the generosity of our donors and the leadership of President Floyd, we have not only reached a significant financial milestone, but we have invested in the lives and futures of our students. It is especially meaningful to celebrate this achievement as we honor President Floyd’s extraordinary service to this institution.”

President Floyd, who will retire following commencement after eight years of dedicated leadership, has been instrumental in guiding the university through a period of growth, innovation, and renewed philanthropic momentum. Under his leadership, Mars Hill has strengthened its commitment to access, student success, and community engagement.

“President Floyd’s legacy is one of vision, integrity, and deep care for this University and its people,” Byrd added. “This campaign is a reflection of that legacy and the countless lives he has impacted.”

Following President Floyd’s retirement, leadership of the university will pass to Dr. Tracy Parkinson, who has been selected as Mars Hill’s 23rd president. A respected leader within the campus community, Dr. Parkinson brings continuity, insight, and a strong commitment to advancing the University’s mission.

The timing of the campaign’s completion—coinciding with both commencement and this leadership transition—marks a powerful moment in the life of the institution, honoring the past while positioning Mars Hill University for continued success.
