Mars Hill University Theatre Arts Department, under the direction of Sue Fair, presents TRUE CRIME beginning October 19th in the Dr. W. F. Robinson Memorial Infirmary, 144 Cascade Street in Mars Hill, on the campus of Mars Hill University.

True Crime is now one of the most popular genres across all forms of media. There are countless documentaries, podcasts, books, films and reality television series dedicated to stories based on sensational real events. A recent poll reported one in three Americans consumes true crime content at least once per week.

TRUE CRIME is a live immersive theatrical experience exploring the unsolved murder of a young woman in Madison County, North Carolina in 1970. This production was inspired by the book, Met Her On The Mountain: A Forty-Year Quest to Solve the Appalachian Cold-Case Murder of Nancy Morgan

Mark I. Pinsky, the author of the book, will be attending the Friday, October 20th performance of TRUE CRIME. Mark will also be doing a live in conversation event featuring surprise guest speakers from his book, on Monday, October 23rd 6PM-7PM in the Owen Theatre on the campus of Mars Hill University. There will be an opportunity to purchase copies of his book to and have signed after both appearances.

Featuring a cast of over 20 performers, TRUE CRIME presents audience members with an interpretation of events both real and imagined, told in a unique setting. TRUE CRIME is a live entertainment experience that blurs the boundaries between the audience and the performers, transporting attendees into a fully interactive and captivating world where they can become active participants in the unfolding narrative, making the audience members that choose to participate feel like integral characters in the story rather than passive spectators. It engages all the senses, combining technology, intricate set design, and talented actors to create a truly unforgettable and deeply engaging journey for the audience.

Similar to famous immersive shows, like Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More and The Burnt City, or attractions like MEOW WOLF and St. Louis City Museum and haunted house experiences, TRUE CRIME is an unpredictable journey throughout multiple rooms. The show is a series of scenes and installations residing inside the Dr. W.F. Robinson Memorial Infirmary on the Mars Hill University Campus.

The production, was written by Jeff Mason and Sue Fair, choreographed by Amanda Hoyte, and continues through October 28th. The cast features Ivy Brooks, Sarah Wheeler, Regan Sellers, Blaine Hovis, and Mason Thompson.

Other members of the creative team include Sue Fair and Jeff Mason as the producers, scenic designers, and technical directors; Blake Freeman as the lighting, sound, and projection designer; Anne Knight as the costume designer; and Emma Hall as the stage manager.

Please join us for the telling of a true crime story like you’ve never experienced before!
