The Weizenblatt Art Gallery at Mars Hill University is showing “Selections”, the personal work of the school’s new photography instructor, M. Paige Taylor. These photos are from a number of different series over many years and from around the world. They show a sharp sense of design, composition, and appreciation for the world around her. Her color photographs explore spaces finding potential and value in everyday objects and places. While most images are absent of the human figure, they are laden with the human trace.
Ms. Taylor’s work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions across the United States. She was awarded an Individual Artist Opportunity Grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts (DDA) and The National Endowment for the Arts. She earned an undergraduate degree from Bard College (NY) and a graduate degree from the Art Center College of Design (CA). Currently, she teaches photography online with the University of New Mexico and will begin teaching at Mars Hill University later this fall.
This exhibition will run from Monday, September 27, to Friday, October 22. Hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 am – 4 pm and Tuesday, Thursday, 9 am – 11:30 am and 2 pm – 4 pm, closed weekends. The gallery is located in the Moore Fine Art building and admission is always free.
