Invasive Plant Species walk

October 11 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Have you ever wondered where Kudzu came from, or Chinese Silver Grass? These are two of the many plants that have made their homes here in the mountains, often eliminating the native species that have evolved here over millennia.

Join The Friends of Bailey Mtn for one of our first educational ecology outings to learn about the remarkable plants and animals that reside in this new Preserve. Our focus will be on the non-native invasive species that reside there.

We’ll spend about two hours on an easy 1-mile loop trial on the Smith Farm, finding and discussing many of the non-native invasive plant species, plus a few animal species, that threaten the biological health of the Preserve. The outing will be rain or shine, and don’t forget to wear sturdy shoes.

Due to Covid Safety Protocols, an RSVP is required so that we can limit the number of participants in each group. RSVP to Taylor Barnhill, taylor.barnhill@yahoo.com.
