Criminal Justice Speaker Series – Survivor Criminology

Dr. Renee Lamphere is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Her areas of expertise include corrections, digital media crime, juvenile delinquency, violence and victimology, and mixed-methods research.

Dr. Lamphere is the co-editor of “Survivor Criminology: A Radical Act of Hope.” The text is a trauma-informed approach to the study of crime and justice that stems from the lived experiences of crime survivors.

In this presentation, Dr. Lamphere will highlight survivor criminology, and discuss how her lived experiences with trauma have shaped her research, teaching, and advocacy work.
