Matt Ossias named new head Esports coach

Matt Ossias has been named the new head Esports coach at Mars Hill University, as announced by Director of Athletics Rick Baker.

Baker stated, “Matt will do a great leading our varsity Esports team. His experience in the field will be a strong asset to our players’ development. His experience and connections in professional Esports will also help any of our players that want to pursue a career in Esports after graduation.”

Ossias joins Mars Hill after serving as the Esports Director for Blink, the first professional Esports team in Albania.  Ossias was responsible for scouting and recruiting talent, creating brand identity through promotional channels and events, and managing the team’s finances.  Blink won the most important Balkan tournament, helping them reach the cusp of the Mountain Dew Pro League and ranking among the top 125 teams in the world.

Ossias also served as a tournament organizer that included management over graphic designers, IT technicians, and operators.

“I look forward to building a vibrant and diverse community of MHU students on the digital frontier of Esports.”

Ossias graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor’s in Philosophy in 2013 as well as a Master’s in Comparative Literature in 2014.  He later obtained a Master’s in Liberal Studies from the New School for Social Research in 2017.
