NC Council for the Social Studies Presentation:  What's So Funny? Using Political Cartoons in the Classroom

If you attended the 'sold-out' session at the 2015 NCCSS Conference, you saw the PowerPoint presentations that we developed for the session.  Feel free to use this with your students and share it with your fellow teachers.  The images, many of them protected by copyright and used under educational fair use, are linked to the online source.

In addition to the PowerPoint, here are the political cartoon hands-on activity, the annotated bibliography and the template for the stickers, formatted for Avery 6466, removable filing labels. The primary source analysis tools are located here, http://www.loc.gov/teachers/usingprimarysources/guides.html

Map Timeline Activity

This activity was developed to address the Common Core State Standards for grades 3 through 5, as well as state social studies standards. Students must arrange the maps into a timeline based on their own analysis. CCSS Map Activity
