Senior Art Exhibitions on Display in Weizenblatt Gallery

Weizenblatt Gallery at Mars Hill University will feature exhibitions from three senior art students: Allison Ward, Hollie Reid and Grace Diepenbrock, from April 13 through May 8, 2015. The opening reception for the Senior Exhibitions will be April 16, from 6 – 8 pm in the gallery.

Allison Ward is a senior from Wilmington, NC, who will graduate with two degrees in art and art therapy, and a minor in psychology. Ward's exhibition, titled Light and Texture, is focused on photography of both nature and people. She is particularly interested in using light to highlight the textures in various subjects.

After graduation in May 2015, she hopes to work with intellectually and physically disabled persons by teaching art as a therapeutic process.

Reid River

Hollie Reid is a senior from Woodfin, NC. Her favorite media are photography and graphic design. She will graduate with a degree in art with a concentration in graphic design and a minor in art history. Her exhibited work, titled, Beauty of the Blue Ridge, will focus on nature photography in the Appalachian Mountains.

Her dream is to work at National Geographic Magazine as a designer and photographer.

Diepenbrock Chaos

Grace Diepenbrock was born in Arlington, Virginia and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. She will graduate with a degree in studio art, and minors in art history and English. Her work has been shown at the Madison County Arts Council, in The Laurel of Asheville, and Mars Hill University's fine arts magazine Cadenza. She hopes to pursue a career in museum education after graduating in May.

Diepenbrock's interests center on drawing and painting, and she seeks to combine elements of the two in her exhibition which is titled, Mechanics: A Retrospective on Relationships.

Weizenblatt Gallery is open each weekday from 10 am until 4 pm.
