The deadly nightclub shooting in Orlando in the early morning hours of June 12, 2016, turned a  Mars Hill University alumna's summer internship into a crisis ministry. Megan Currie had just started her internship with Joy Metropolitan Community Church in Orlando. After receiving her religion degree in May, Currie, the 2015-16 recipient of MHU's Michael Emory Award for Outstanding Christian Servant Leadership, is spending the summer at Joy MCC before beginning graduate studies this fall at Mercer University's McAfee School of Theology.
