Green Party Candidate for President to Speak at Mars Hill University

Dr. Bill Kreml, Green Party Candidate for President of the United States, will speak at Mars Hill University on February 10, at 7 pm in Broyhill Chapel. The event is free and the public is welcome.

Kreml is a writer, activist, and retired professor of political science, having taught for 50 years at the University of South Carolina, Indiana University, Northwestern University and Northwestern University Law School. He is also the author of four books, including most recently as The Bias of Temperament in American Politics, Second Edition (2014).

According to Kreml, his upcoming lecture, and in fact, his campaign, are an effort to explain to students and the general citizenry his views on the evolution of government in recent years toward governmental gridlock, middle class decline, inequity and dysfunction.

"The oligarchs have been winning all along, slowly but successfully moving our government away from a constitutional democracy to what Aristotle described as 'rule by the few.'" Kreml said. "The very structure and processes of our constitution facilitated this movement and constitutional reform is now necessary to regain an equilibrium of power relationships between the average citizen and those who now so dominate our political processes."

According to gp.org, the Green Party is founded on ten key values: grassroots democracy, social justice and equal opportunity, ecological wisdom, non-violence, decentralization, community based economics, feminism and gender equity, respect for diversity, personal and global responsibility and sustainability.
