Chaplain's Office Sponsors "The Power of Narrative" Workshop with Melvin Bray

Melvin Bray Flyer5The MHU Chaplain's Office will sponsor a workshop for ministers and ministry leaders on The Power of Narrative on February 3, from 1 to 4 pm in Bentley Fellowship Hall (beside Broyhill Chapel). 

Prior to the workshop, Bray will be the guest speaker at MHU's Crossroads chapel service, at 11 am. His topic will relate to the university's celebration of Black History Month.

Melvin Bray, founder and director of Kid Cultivators and leader for Faith Forward, will speak to the importance of both the telling and hearing of personal narrative in ministry and help participants understand how those narratives weave into the overall narrative of the Church.

Faith Forward is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing together children’s and youth ministry leaders for collaboration, resourcing, and inspiration toward innovative theology and practice. Kid Cultivators is the nonprofit Melvin founded in the late 90′s and has worked through for the last 13 years to help youth, youth-workers and their families learn habits of sustainability. He teaches youth, et al., to employ the ethics of sustainability in the way they engage ecology, faith, relationships, education, economics, politics, media and art. A minimal registration fee of $10.00 is required to help cover the costs of Rev. Bray's workshop. Checks should be written out to Mars Hill University and may be mailed to the following address: P.O. Box 6675, Bentley Fellowship Hall, Mars Hill, NC 28754. Early registration must be received by January 27th. Registration after the January 27th deadline is $15.00, and may be paid in person on the day of the workshop.
