Pre-Nursing Recruitment/Retention Specialist

Position:Full-time, 12 month position
Reports to: Dean of the Judge-McRae School of Nursing
(This is a grant-funded position.)

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in an appropriate field (Social Work preferred; Counseling, Education, Nursing or relevant considered) and 2-4 years of related experience. Preferred: Background in nursing, excellent writing/communications/critical thinking skills, working knowledge of the university and school of nursing policies relating to degree programs and course development, ability to organize, manage confidential information, oversee special projects through to completion, and demonstrate professional behavior as well as flexibility to deal with frequent variations in activity level, travel, and adjustment to changing expectations.

Responsibilities: The Specialist will provide support services for recruiting and enrolling students interested in the pre-licensure nursing students to promote higher retention and academic success. Hours and days may vary; can include some evenings and weekends. The Specialist coordinates, schedules, and implements regional and statewide recruitment activities inclusive of marketing materials. Admissions counseling, resource referring, and academic advising are integral parts of this position. A Holistic Review is applied to every pre-nursing student admission file and anticipatory guidance instituted where applicable, particularly for at­ risk students. This individual will develop and coordinate new student activities such as Pre­ nursing Club and Orientation Sessions. He/she will develop and manage a database. This individual will teach one FYS class the first year and one FYS class each semester each full academic year thereafter. Requirements include active participation and leadership with the Nursing Workforce Inclusion (NWIN) Committee, Advisory Council, commencement, and on committees as assigned by the Dean, and in nursing ceremonies.
