Admissions Counselor

Report to: Director of Admissions

Primary Responsibilities: Introduce students and their families to Mars Hill University and assist through the entire enrollment process. Participate in University fairs, traveling 6-8 weeks of the year. Manage roughly 400-600 applicants per year. Maintain consistent communication with prospective students and pertinent departments at MHU. 75% of the job will entail phone calls to applicants. Willingness to travel a must. The schedule will be Monday through Thursday from noon until 9PM. There will also be some Saturday work involved.

Skills Required:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic working knowledge of University admissions and financial aid
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and other software pertaining to admissions, recruitment and financial aid
  • Dependable, with understanding of confidentiality and accountability requirements suitable to this position
  • Ability to work independently
  • Self-motivated
  • Detail oriented
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in University admissions or outside sales preferred
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of student enrollment, admissions, and computer-based data management
